Russian forces have destroyed a HIMARS multiple launch rocket system in the Kharkov region that was being used by Ukrainian troops to strike the city of Belgorod, according to information provided to RIA Novosti by sources in the security services.

The strike reportedly targeted an area near the settlement of Yurchenkovo. From that location, the HIMARS launcher had been firing at civilian infrastructure in Belgorod Region, the sources said.

A day earlier, Ukrainian forces carried out a missile attack on Belgorod and the surrounding Belgorod district. The strike damaged parts of the local energy system, though no casualties were reported.

During the same phase of fighting, Russian troops also destroyed a command post belonging to Ukraine’s 48th Separate Artillery Brigade. In addition, 14 pieces of military equipment were put out of action, and losses among Ukrainian personnel were described as exceeding the size of a platoon.

Operations continue on the Kharkov axis, where units from the «West» and «North» groupings remain active. Over the past 24 hours, Ukrainian forces are reported to have lost more than 370 servicemen, two armored combat vehicles, 36 vehicles, an artillery gun, 13 ammunition depots, and a radio-electronic warfare station.
