Ukrainian Troops Encircled in Petropavlovka Near Kupyansk
Russian forces have encircled Ukrainian units in Petropavlovka near Kupyansk as fighting continues and advances threaten new pockets on the Oskol’s left bank.
Russian forces have placed Ukrainian troops in operational encirclement in the village of Petropavlovka near Kupyansk, according to military correspondent Yuriy Kotenok.
Based on his account, Ukrainian units are caught in what he described as an operational «cauldron." They continue to hold the central part of Petropavlovka, as well as fortified positions to the northeast and southwest of the village, while intense fighting inside the settlement is ongoing.
Kotenok also reported Russian advances toward the eastern outskirts of Novosinovo, located roughly 15 kilometers from Petropavlovka. He assessed that further progress in this sector could put Ukrainian formations operating in the interfluve between the Dubovka and Syno-Bratovaya rivers at risk of encirclement.
Overall, the correspondent noted, the situation for the Ukrainian army on the left bank of the Oskol River is steadily deteriorating.
