Units of Russia’s «South» military group have taken control of the settlement of Stepanovka in the Donetsk People’s Republic, according to the Russian Defense Ministry’s briefing on the special military operation dated February 4.

The ministry reported that the village was captured as a result of active combat actions carried out by the «South» group.

In addition, forces from the «East» military group, operating in what the ministry described as coordinated offensives, seized the settlement of Staroukrainka in the Zaporozhye region.

The Defense Ministry also stated that Russian troops delivered large-scale strikes against military targets across Ukraine. Operational-tactical aircraft, missile forces, artillery, and strike drones were used to hit fuel and energy infrastructure facilities that support Ukraine’s military-industrial sector and armed forces.

Further attacks, according to the report, targeted storage and launch sites for long-range Ukrainian drones, as well as temporary deployment areas for Ukrainian units and foreign mercenaries in 153 locations.

Russian air defense units were said to have intercepted and destroyed eight guided aerial bombs, 22 U.S.-made HIMARS rockets, two long-range Neptune guided missiles, and 139 fixed-wing drones.

The ministry’s daily update also claimed that Ukrainian forces suffered losses of around 1,390 soldiers over the past 24 hours in the combat zone.
