Intense Drone Battle for Air Control Near Slavyansk and Kramatorsk
The fiercest battle for air control unfolds near Slavyansk and Kramatorsk, as mass drone use, harsh frosts, and limited assaults shape spring plans.
The area around Slavyansk and Kramatorsk has become the most intense sector along the entire front when it comes to the fight for control of the airspace. This assessment was shared with Lenta.ru by military analyst and retired colonel Vitaly Kiselev.
According to his analysis, the sky over this section of the front is saturated with activity, with thousands of drones operating continuously on both sides. The situation is further aggravated by severe морозы: in such conditions, any movement by infantry units is easily detected from the air using thermal imaging equipment. As a result, the tactic of covert «infiltration,» which previously proved effective near Pokrovsk, has lost its relevance in this direction.
At the same time, Kiselev stresses that Russian units have not halted assault operations. For now, these actions remain limited and localized, focused primarily on improving tactical positions rather than achieving immediate breakthroughs. He argues that such maneuvers should be viewed as part of preparations for the spring campaign, alongside an ongoing effort to identify the most promising sectors for a potential дальнейшего наступления.
