The Pentagon has a substantial stockpile of Tomahawk cruise missiles deployed on U. S. Navy ships in the Middle East, which could be used in strikes against Iran. NBC reported this, citing a U.S. official.
According to the source, the U. S. Department of Defense has more than 450 Tomahawk missiles designed to hit ground targets. These weapons are already positioned in the region and are ready for use should U. S. President Donald Trump authorize an operation.
Trump had earlier said that a «massive armada» was moving toward Iran, while at the same time expressing hope that Tehran would agree to what he described as a fair and equal deal. He made clear that such an agreement would require Iran to completely abandon nuclear weapons ambitions. The U.S. president also recalled that in June 2025, the United States carried out strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities as part of Operation Midnight Hammer. He warned that any further steps could be even larger in scale and urged that such an outcome be avoided.
