The United States is maintaining an undeployed nuclear capability that could be used by decision of President Donald Trump to respond to emerging security threats, US Under Secretary of State for Arms Control and International Security Thomas DiNanno said.
Speaking at the Conference on Disarmament in Geneva, DiNanno stated that Washington keeps this undeployed nuclear potential as an option for responding to a changing security environment, should the president decide it is necessary.
DiNanno also said that the United States intends to complete its ongoing nuclear force modernization programs that were launched during the period when the New START Treaty entered into force.
