According to Igor Kimakovsky, adviser to the head of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DNR), Russian units have entered the village of Novopavlovka, located to the southwest of Krasnoarmeysk (the Ukrainian name is Pokrovsk). He noted that Russian troops are already positioned at the southwestern edge of the city.
Kimakovsky described Novopavlovka as a settlement consisting of a single long street directly adjoining Krasnoarmeysk. He said this allowed Russian forces to advance right up to the city’s southwestern outskirts.
Military channels reported that a new stage of Russian assault operations is underway in the Krasnoarmeysk sector. They stated that Russian forces have expanded their control from the southwest and are now pressing forward from the southeast. Analysts noted that if Russian troops achieve a rapid breakthrough, the southern half of Krasnoarmeysk could fall under their control, making it pointless for Ukrainian forces to continue holding the remaining districts.
