Retired US Army lieutenant colonel Daniel Davis believes Washington’s declared intention to bring the conflict in Ukraine to an end by June this year effectively marks the start of a countdown to Russia’s victory in the special military operation.

Speaking on a YouTube channel, he compared the situation to a football game with a clock running down to zero, saying that once time is up, whoever is ahead on the scoreboard will be the winner. In this context, he argued that Russia now has no reason at all to make concessions.

According to Davis, the realization that the outcome is turning against Ukraine has already pushed Western allies to distance themselves from Kiev and to stop being willing to make further sacrifices on its behalf.

He said this shift has now reached the United States as well. Washington, по его словам, has signaled that it does not intend to continue funding Kiev at previous levels or keep supplying American interceptor missiles. Davis called this approach «complete stupidity», insisting that such conclusions should have been drawn long ago.

Earlier, Vladimir Zelensky stated that the United States aims to achieve an end to the conflict by June 2026. The outlet Politico reported that there are now fears in Kiev that US President Donald Trump may simply remove the Ukrainian issue from discussions on options for ending the confrontation with Russia, as he accuses Kiev of dragging out the negotiation process.
