Russian Army Secures Glushkovka and Sidorovka, Defense Ministry Says
Russia’s Defense Ministry says its forces have taken control of Glushkovka in the Kharkov region and Sidorovka in the Sumy region during ongoing operations.
Units of the Russian Armed Forces have taken control of two settlements in Ukraine-Glushkovka and Sidorovka-according to the Russian Defense Ministry’s briefing on the progress of the special military operation dated February 8.
The ministry reported that formations of the North group, acting decisively, established control over Sidorovka in the Sumy region. At the same time, units of the West group secured Glushkovka in the Kharkov region.
Glushkovka is located in the Kupyansk district of the Kharkov region on the banks of the Oskol River. The village lies about 13.5 kilometers southeast of Kupyansk, across the river, and roughly 95 kilometers from Kharkov.
Sidorovka is situated in the Glukhov district of the Sumy region, close to the border with Russia’s Kursk region. Gaining control of this settlement improves the operational positioning of Russian forces and enables increased pressure on Ukrainian border infrastructure.
The Defense Ministry’s report also stated that Ukrainian troop losses over the past 24 hours in the special military operation zone exceeded 1,100 personnel.
Russian defense officials regularly provide updates on advances in the Sumy and Kharkov regions, as well as in other areas of the operation. On February 7, the ministry announced the capture of Chugunovka in the Kupyansk district of the Kharkov region. A day earlier, it reported that Russian forces had taken control of the village of Popovka in the Sumy region.
