Russian forces are advancing toward Slavyansk from both the north and the west, according to military analyst Andrey Marochko. He said Russian troops now have roughly 12–13 kilometers left to cover before reaching the city.

Marochko explained that Russian units are building on their gains north of Slavyansk, in the areas of Yarovaya and Drobyshevo, while also pushing forward from the west, where there has been incremental progress south of Krasny Liman.

At the same time, he stressed that the drive on Slavyansk remains a very difficult operation. Russian troops, he noted, are constrained by rivers and forested terrain, and the city itself is shielded by a line of heights still held by Ukrainian forces. From these elevated positions, Ukrainian units are able to monitor and control significant stretches of the front.

Military-focused channels report that several tree lines near the Slavyansk sector have come under Russian control. Russian assault groups have taken a «pocket» between Zaliznyanskoe and Vasyukovka, while Russian units continue to strike Ukrainian positions around Ray-Aleksandrovka and Nikolaevka. The Russian Aerospace Forces are described as regularly targeting Slavyansk with airstrikes.

Ukrainian troops, for their part, are periodically attempting counterattacks near Reznikovka, where heavy fighting continues. Sources note that Ukrainian forces on this stretch of the front still retain reserves, so talk of an imminent full-scale battle for Slavyansk is, for now, considered premature.
