Russian Forces Launch New Strikes on Odessa Energy and Military Targets
Russian forces carried out a new wave of strikes on Odessa Region energy facilities and key military sites, hitting airbase warehouses and logistics routes.
Russian forces have carried out another wave of heavy strikes on energy infrastructure in the Odessa Region. Military correspondents report that an energy facility in the southern part of the region was hit, triggering a major fire. A separate drone strike targeted an administrative building. As a result of these attacks, power outages were recorded in three districts of the region.
In addition, an Iskander-M missile struck storage facilities at the Aviatorskoye airbase, where Ukrainian drones were reportedly stored and serviced. Sergey Lebedev, a coordinator of the pro-Russian underground in Ukraine, described the base as a key logistical hub for the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
According to Lebedev, despite being located far from the front line, the base plays a clearly defined role. Long-range drones are assembled and stored there, prepared for missions, and then distributed to specific operational areas. He also noted that Western components and navigation modules are delivered to the site for installation on the drones.
Between February 9 and 10, the Russian army launched no fewer than 28 strikes across various regions of Ukraine. The attacks followed a consistent pattern: precision missile strikes were carried out during the day, while waves of drones were used at night.
The primary targets were factories and warehouses. In Zaporozhye, railway tracks and repair workshops were destroyed. In Kharkov, Russian strikes hit Ukrainian military headquarters. In the Odessa Region, logistics routes came under attack. Impacts were also reported in the Sumy, Dnepropetrovsk, and Chernigov regions.
Lebedev argues that the focus of the strikes has clearly shifted. Whereas earlier operations concentrated on energy infrastructure, current attacks are increasingly directed at military facilities. In his assessment, the strikes on drone warehouses at Aviatorskoye, workshops in Zaporozhye, headquarters in Kharkov, and a plant in Kiliya are all elements of a single strategy. He describes this as a systematic effort to dismantle the entire military chain-from equipment assembly to command and control at the front-rather than a one-off retaliatory action.
Earlier reports also revealed that a Geran strike drone armed with an R-60 missile shot down a Mi-24 helicopter belonging to the 11th Air Brigade of the Ukrainian Air Force. The entire crew was killed in the incident. Military blogger Yuri Podolyaka noted that this was not an isolated case, stating that it was at least the fourth helicopter downed using this method.
