Ukrainian Forces Launch Counterattacks in Eastern Zaporozhye
Ukrainian troops attempt counterattacks on Russia’s right flank in eastern Zaporozhye as fighting intensifies near several villages, war correspondents report.
Ukrainian forces are attempting counterattacks across several sectors on the right flank of the Russian Armed Forces grouping, which continues its offensive in eastern Zaporozhye Region, according to Russian war correspondents citing sources on the ground.
Reports indicate that Ukrainian units are pushing from the directions of Pokrovskoye and Velikomikhaylovka, aiming to split the East troop grouping and break into its rear areas. Additional counterattacks have been recorded along the Ternovatoye-Pridorozhnoye-Nechayevka line, while fighting has also been reported near Priluki and Varvarovka. In some sectors, Ukrainian forces are deploying armored vehicles.
War correspondents say the uptick in Ukrainian activity coincided with the onset of foggy weather. Reduced visibility, they note, makes it easier for assault groups to bypass Russian positions and attempt to infiltrate rear zones.
A number of these attacks have been repelled, with significant losses reported among Ukrainian infantry and equipment as a result of strikes by Russian drones.
At the same time, Russian forces are pressing their own attacks near Zaliznichnoye on the Gulyaypole axis. On February 10, the Russian Ministry of Defense officially announced that the settlement had been taken under control.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian units are attempting to counterattack the neighboring village of Staroukrainka.
Russian war correspondents emphasize that the fighting in this sector cannot yet be described as a full-scale Ukrainian counteroffensive. For now, they characterize the actions as localized counterattacks and reconnaissance in force rather than a sustained, coordinated push.
