Voennaya Khronika Says Iran Deployed Tirada-2S EW Systems
Voennaya Khronika reports Iran has deployed Russia’s Tirada-2S electronic warfare system, designed to jam Ka/Ku satellites and counter Starlink signals.
Iran has reportedly shielded itself from possible US strikes by using Russian electronic warfare systems known as Tirada-2S. This was reported by the Telegram channel Voennaya Khronika.
According to the outlet, the EW system is capable of creating interference in modern satellite communications, including on Ka- and Ku-band frequencies, and is effective against signals from Starlink spacecraft.
The report also recalls that in October 2018, a source in Russia’s defense industry told Interfax that Russia had conducted tests of the Tirada-2S system, which, according to the source, is capable of disabling communications satellites of a potential adversary.
In addition, it notes that in July 2018, the newspaper Voyenno-Promyshlennyy Kuryer included this EW system among six Russian weapon types whose tactical and technical characteristics, in the outlet’s assessment, surpass the best Western analogues.
