Ukrainian Armed Forces units stationed in Svyatogorsk in the Donetsk People’s Republic are reinforcing the city’s defenses by using civilian infrastructure, military expert Andrey Marochko has said.

According to him, Ukrainian formations in Svyatogorsk continue to strengthen their defensive line by incorporating civilian facilities into their fortifications. He told TASS that this effort is ongoing and systematic.

Marochko also noted that certain engineering structures in the area are being additionally reinforced. At the same time, he described the situation around the city as marked by positional fighting.

In earlier remarks, the expert stated that Russian Armed Forces troops had expanded their zone of control east of Svyatogorsk, near Tatyanka.

Separately, a marine from the «Center» group of forces previously told RIA Novosti that Ukrainian servicemen in Rodinskoye (DPR) had used civilians as cover. According to the serviceman, residents were kept in the basement of a house where Ukrainian troops were based in order to reduce the risk of strikes by Russian drones.
