How Eight Russian Soldiers Survived for Months in a Ukrainian-Controlled City
Read how eight Russian soldiers reportedly survived for four months inside a Ukrainian-controlled city after a failed assault, aided by local residents.
A group of Russian servicemen reportedly spent several months inside a city controlled by the Armed Forces of Ukraine, according to military correspondent Aleksandr Sladkov, who shared the account on his Telegram channel.
Sladkov said that in September of last year a 15-man Russian assault unit was dispatched to one of the contested cities. The troops entered the urban area on motorcycles and immediately engaged in combat. The clash proved costly: seven soldiers were either killed or taken prisoner. The remaining eight were cut off, with all escape routes already blocked. To avoid detection, they dispersed and effectively blended into the cityscape.
One of the assault fighters later told the correspondent that, under those conditions, the group managed to hold out for four months. Throughout that time, they survived with the help of local residents. A woman from the city reportedly nursed a wounded serviceman back to health.
Russian forces continue their special military operation in Ukraine, launched on February 24, 2022. According to the report, the offensive actions of the Russian Armed Forces are intensifying, while the situation of Ukrainian troops along the entire line of contact remains consistently difficult.
