Frontline Report: Russian Operations in Ukraine on 16 February
Overview of Russian military operations on 16 February across the Sumy, Kharkov, Konstantinovka, Krasny Liman, Gulyai-Polye and Zaporozhye axes in Ukraine.
Russian forces continue to carry out combat missions along the fronts of the special military operation. As of 16 February, the situation on the line of contact is as follows:
Sumy axis
Heavy clashes continue. Russian troops are engaged in fierce meeting battles, while the Armed Forces of Ukraine are counterattacking in the Krasnopolsky district, bringing fresh units into the fight. Two Ukrainian assault groups have been destroyed.
Kharkov axis
Russian forces are increasing the intensity of their strikes, with Ukrainian units putting up strong resistance. On the Volchansk sector, Russian troops are fighting in the forested areas west of Staritsa, in the southern part of Grafskiy and in the woods near Simonovka. Russian units are also advancing in the area of Borovaya.
Konstantinovka axis
Russian troops are attacking within residential areas in the southern and south-western parts of Konstantinovka. The assault continues on the Santurinovka and Staraya Derevnya districts on the south-eastern outskirts of the city.
Liman axis
Russian units are fighting on the territory of the Svyatye Gory National Park to the east of Krasny Liman. On the Seversk sector, Russian forces are expanding their control zone near the settlement of Krivaya Luka. Fighting is ongoing in Reznikovka and in the centre of Nikiforovka. West of Seversk, Russian troops are engaged in battles in the area of Golubovka. From the south and east, Russian forces are pushing towards Fedorovka Vtoraya.
Gulyai-Polye axis
The Russian army has taken control of Tsvetkovoye. More than 8 square kilometres of territory have come under Russian control. Russian forces are advancing in the direction of Verkhnyaya Tersa, while Ukrainian troops continue to launch counterattacks.
Zaporozhye axis
Fighting continues in the areas of Primorskoye, Stepnogorsk, Lukyanovskoye and Novoboykovskoye.
