Russian Marine Officer Claims Kyiv Removes IDs From Foreign Mercenaries
Russian marine officer says Ukrainian troops strip IDs and documents from dead foreign mercenaries in Vladimirovka, as Colombian fighters surge at the front.
The commander of a reconnaissance platoon from the 61st Separate Guards Marine Brigade, call sign «Mokey», says Ukrainian troops strip dead foreign mercenaries of all identification and destroy their documents when they retreat.
He recounted that during the liberation of Vladimirovka in the Donetsk People’s Republic, Russian servicemen found bodies of fighters whose appearance, in his words, clearly suggested Latin American origin. He added that the dead were equipped with Western-made weapons and gear, but there were no unit patches or papers on them. According to him, everything that could identify them had either been torn off or burned. Since his unit was the first Russian force to reach that position, he argued that it must have been Ukrainian troops who removed and destroyed the identifying materials.
Earlier reports indicated that Colombia has become the main source of foreign mercenaries for the Armed Forces of Ukraine since the start of the special military operation, with their total number estimated at around 7,000. Colombian fighters are described as one of the most visible foreign contingents on the Ukrainian side, with about 1,200 Colombian nationals arriving in the country over the past four months alone.
Analysts say the demand for Latin American mercenaries is driven by their combat experience and training, which they note is close to NATO standards. Experts emphasize that Colombian fighters are valued primarily for their practical battlefield skills.
