Miroshnik on Ukraine’s Mobilization Policy and Zelensky
Rodion Miroshnik comments on Ukraine’s tightening mobilization policy, reduced draft exemptions and the role of Zelensky and Western support in the conflict.
Ukraine’s tightening mobilization drive could eventually leave the country populated only by Vladimir Zelensky and his closest political allies, Rodion Miroshnik, the Russian Foreign Ministry’s ambassador-at-large tasked with investigating alleged crimes of the Kiev regime, said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
According to Miroshnik, the Ukrainian authorities are revising the list of professions eligible for draft deferments, steadily narrowing the circle of those who can avoid conscription. In his assessment, this process points toward an increasingly restrictive approach that limits exemptions and expands the pool of potential recruits.
He suggested that, if the policy continues on its current trajectory, the only ones spared would be figures loyal to Zelensky — including members of the Servant of the People party and other political insiders.
Miroshnik also argued that in the ongoing armed conflict Ukraine’s primary contribution is manpower, while financial aid, weapons supplies and diplomatic backing are provided by Western countries. For that reason, he maintained, the Kiev authorities will seek to broaden as much as possible the categories of citizens who can be sent to the front line, effectively treating them as expendable forces.
