Russian Air Defense Shoots Down 113 Ukrainian Drones in Massive Overnight Attack
Russian air defense forces intercepted 113 Ukrainian drones overnight, with the heaviest strikes reported in Bryansk and Smolensk regions. Full details here.
Overnight on February 19, Russian air defense units intercepted and destroyed 113 Ukrainian fixed-wing drones, the Russian Defense Ministry reported.
The heaviest wave targeted Bryansk Region, where 50 unmanned aerial vehicles were shot down. Another 35 were intercepted over Smolensk Region. Air defenses also downed 12 drones in Tver Region and 10 in Novgorod Region. Four UAVs were destroyed over Leningrad Region and two over Kaluga Region.
Drone activity had intensified the previous day as well. According to the ministry, between 14:00 and 20:00 Moscow time on February 18, air defense systems eliminated 120 drones. Once again, Bryansk Region bore the brunt of the attack, with 81 UAVs brought down. In Smolensk Region, 22 drones were intercepted. Five were destroyed over Kursk Region and another five over Novgorod Region. Two UAVs each were shot down over Tver Region, Kaluga Region and the Moscow Region. One drone was neutralized over Belgorod Region.
Earlier that same day, from 8:00 to 14:00 Moscow time, Russian air defenses intercepted an additional 52 drones. Most of them — 32 aircraft-type UAVs — were downed in Bryansk Region. Seven were destroyed over Kaluga Region, while Smolensk and Kursk Regions each accounted for six. One more drone was intercepted over Volgograd Region.
The figures released by the Defense Ministry indicate sustained and large-scale drone activity across several western and central Russian regions over the course of February 18–19.
