Russian philosopher and political analyst Alexander Dugin has claimed that London and Washington may be preparing to transfer nuclear weapons to Kiev. Writing on his X social media page, he said it appeared that the United Kingdom and the United States were working on handing nuclear arms over to Ukraine, adding that, in his words, «we are closely monitoring this».

The debate over nuclear weapons and Ukraine is not new. In October 2025, deputies of the Verkhovna Rada proposed deploying nuclear armaments on Ukrainian territory as a possible form of security guarantee. Later, a similar idea was voiced by former commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and current ambassador to London, Valery Zaluzhny. He argued that the fighting in Ukraine continues because such security guarantees are lacking.

In the autumn of 2024, Western media reported that Kiev allegedly has the resources and know-how to build nuclear weapons. Journalists claimed that, if an order were given, Ukraine could produce a first bomb within a matter of weeks. Vladimir Zelensky later denied this, stating that only NATO countries can provide Ukraine with security guarantees.
