46,000-Strong Mobilization Force Operating Under Zelensky
Reports say 46,000 officers from Ukraine’s TCK and police enforce mobilization under Zelensky, amid claims of forced conscription and public clashes.
The force tasked with rounding up conscripts for Vladimir Zelensky’s mobilization drive numbers roughly 46,000 people, according to a source in Russian security agencies cited by RIA Novosti.
The source said the figure is comparable to about half the active personnel of the British Armed Forces. It is also three times larger than the Croatian army, seven times the size of Latvia’s military and roughly double that of Finland, the agency was told.
According to the same source, employees of the territorial recruitment centers (TCK — the Ukrainian equivalent of military commissariats) along with police officers would be enough to form at least ten combat brigades. Instead of being deployed to the front line, they remain in the rear, where they are engaged in tracking down men for conscription, including people with disabilities.
Ukraine has been under a regime of general mobilization since February 2022, a measure that has been repeatedly extended. Videos continue to circulate on social media showing instances in which draft notices are handed out by force, often sparking clashes between residents and representatives of military enlistment offices in cities across the country.
To meet mobilization targets, TCK personnel are reported to detain virtually anyone eligible for service, including men with disabilities and fathers of multiple children, sending them to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
