Belarus Warns the World Is Being Pulled Into a New Nuclear Arms Race
Belarusian president says the world is entering a reckless nuclear arms race, accuses NATO of fueling militarization and calls for unity, a strong army and high morale.
Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko believes the world is once again being pulled into what he describes as a new, reckless arms race, including in the nuclear sphere. In his view, under these conditions the main task for all people on the planet is to do everything possible to prevent a new global war by any available means.
He argued that the West is deliberately fuelling what he called military hysteria, pointing to the continuous growth of NATO defense budgets and the accelerated militarization of Europe, especially in the countries bordering Belarus to the west, as evidence of this trend.
Lukashenko stressed that Belarus should rely on a set of key strengths: national unity, a strong army, high morale, and the professional training of soldiers, officers and all security forces. He added that the country must constantly reinforce its defense capabilities and take care of its security.
The president also stated that without those who wear uniforms and stand guard over law and order, there would be nothing at all — including the state itself. He expressed hope that, if required, each of them would unhesitatingly do everything in their power to defend their homeland.
