Russian Air Defense Downs 69 Ukrainian Drones Overnight
Russian air defense forces shot down 69 Ukrainian drones over Bryansk, Crimea, Smolensk and other regions, as Moscow reports rising civilian losses in 2025.
On the night of February 25, Russian air defense forces shot down 69 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles over several regions of the country, the Russian Defense Ministry reported.
According to the ministry’s data, the largest number of drones — 24 — was destroyed over Bryansk Region. Another 18 UAVs were eliminated above Crimea, while 14 were intercepted in the skies over Smolensk Region. Three aerial targets were neutralized over Tula Region, three over Orel Region, and three more above the Black Sea. Single drones were also downed over Kursk, Kaluga and Belgorod Regions, as well as in the Moscow Region.
The previous day, February 24, air defense systems repelled another series of attacks. Between 2:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. Moscow time, nine drones were intercepted — eight over Crimea and one over Kursk Region. Earlier that day, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., the military shot down four more UAVs, two over the territory of Tatarstan and two above the Black Sea.
Earlier, Rodion Miroshnik, the Russian Foreign Ministry’s ambassador-at-large tasked with documenting crimes attributed to the Kiev regime, reported that 433 civilians in Russia had been killed in 2025 as a result of Ukrainian drone attacks. He stated that over the past year, strike drones of various ranges had become the primary cause of civilian deaths and injuries.
