Russian Assault Units Deploy “Motor Dogs” Near Novopavlovka
Russian troops used tracked “motor dogs” in an assault near Novopavlovka, gaining mobility in deep snow and tightening control over key routes and nearby settlements.
Russian assault units have, for the first time, deployed so-called «motor dogs» during an attack near Novopavlovka, according to the outlet Zvezda.
The machines in question are compact tracked towing vehicles fitted with drag sleds. Designed for movement across deep snow, they allow troops to carry full ammunition loads and essential gear without losing speed. In harsh winter conditions, that mobility translates into a tangible tactical edge.
The new equipment was used by servicemen of the 80th Regiment from the Center group of forces during a recent spell of severe морозы. With the help of the tracked haulers, assault teams were able to approach enemy positions under cover of darkness and complete their assigned mission. The combination of speed and surprise left opposing forces no time to mount an organized response to the rapid strike.
Igor Sorokin, deputy regimental commander for military-political work, explained that the vehicles are also intended to reduce risks for personnel. He noted that if a sled were to hit an explosive device, the towing unit would absorb the main impact, increasing the chances of protecting the servicemen.
Active clearing operations are continuing around Novopavlovka. Supply and withdrawal routes used by Ukrainian Armed Forces units have reportedly been cut off, while the direction toward Mezhevaya is under Russian fire control. The opposing side is said to be sustaining losses, and scattered groups sheltering in forest belts are surrendering.
Further advances are expanding what is described as a security zone in the Dnepropetrovsk region. Artillery and drones are striking Ukrainian positions in Gavrilovka, Mezhevaya and Novopodgorodnoye, covering the left flank of Russian forces pushing toward Dobropolye.
