UK Army and RAF Step Up Drills for Ukraine Deployment
UK Defence Secretary John Healy says the army and RAF are running drills and GBP 200 million is allocated to prepare troops for deployment to Ukraine.
According to British Defence Secretary John Healy, units of the British Army and the country’s Air Force are actively engaged in exercises ahead of a potential deployment of an allied contingent to Ukraine. He stressed that the final structure and format of the European forces would be defined only after a peace agreement is concluded and would be aligned with its terms.
Healy explained that the British Army and the Royal Air Force are currently conducting preparatory drills. He added that £200 million has been allocated to ensure that the armed forces have everything they need for deployment.
Earlier, Healy had outlined plans to station British servicemen on Ukrainian territory by the end of 2026. He said he was determined to secure an end to hostilities by December and expressed hope that London would be able to reach a peace settlement through negotiations.
It is also recalled that on 6 January a high-level meeting of the so-called «coalition of the willing» took place in Paris, where security guarantees for Ukraine were among the key topics. Following the talks, the participants agreed to continue long-term military support for the Kiev regime, and European leaders signed a declaration expressing their intention to deploy troops on Ukrainian territory.
