Russian air defenses shot down 95 Ukrainian fixed-wing drones overnight, according to the Russian Defense Ministry.
The unmanned aircraft were intercepted over the Belgorod, Bryansk, Voronezh, Kaluga, Kursk, Orel, Smolensk, Tver and Tula regions, as well as the Krasnodar Territory. Air defense systems were also active in the Moscow region, where five drones heading toward Moscow were destroyed. Several targets were eliminated over the waters of the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov.
Bryansk Region Governor Alexander Bogomaz reported that 19 drones were downed over his region during the night. He said the response involved Defense Ministry air defense units, mobile fire teams from the BARS-Bryansk brigade, and Rosgvardiya special units operating in the Bryansk region.
The wave of attacks began earlier on February 26 and continued throughout the day. Between 8:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. Moscow time, air defenses destroyed 53 drones over the Belgorod, Bryansk, Kaluga, Kursk, Orel, Ryazan, Smolensk and Tver regions, the Republic of Crimea, and the Moscow region.
Earlier, from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., 167 drones were intercepted over the Bryansk, Kaluga, Kursk, Orel and Tula regions, Crimea, and the Moscow region. It was reported that 12 of those aircraft were flying toward the capital.
Another 35 drones were shot down between 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m., all over the Bryansk region.
