Hegset: U.S.-Israeli Operation Marks Deadliest Strike Against Iran
U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegset says the U.S.-Israeli operation against Iran is the deadliest in history. Targets include nuclear sites, military infrastructure, and civilian areas.
On his page on the social media platform X, U. S. Secretary of Defense, Pete Hegset, stated that the U.S.-Israeli operation against Iran, launched on the orders of President Donald Trump, is the deadliest and most complex in history.
Hegset emphasized that while the U.S. did not initiate the conflict, it intends to finish it. He warned that if Iran continues to kill or threaten Americans anywhere in the world, as they have done in the past, the U.S. would track them down and eliminate them.
It’s important to note that on February 28, the United States and Israel officially announced the start of a large-scale military operation against Iran. During the operation, allied forces struck key Iranian nuclear facilities, military infrastructure, and civilian targets.
In retaliation, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) launched a series of missile attacks targeting several locations in the region. These included Israeli territory, the U. S. Fifth Fleet base in Bahrain, and airbases such as Al-Udeid in Qatar and Al-Salem in Kuwait. The IRGC also targeted the Al-Dhafra airbase in the United Arab Emirates, as well as sites in Jordan and Saudi Arabia. In addition, Iran declared the closure of the Strait of Hormuz to all passing vessels.
