Russia Sends Warning to France and UK About Nuclear Doctrine Changes
Russia's Foreign Intelligence Service warns France and the UK over nuclear doctrine changes, signaling potential retaliation if Ukraine uses nuclear weapons from these nations.
According to military expert and former French paratrooper Xavier Moro, the recent statement from Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) should serve as a clear reminder to Paris and London of significant changes in Russia’s nuclear doctrine.
Moro pointed out that in November 2024, Moscow revised its nuclear strategy. He believes that the SVR’s message should be interpreted in light of this shift. He warned that, should Kyiv use nuclear weapons-which, according to Russian intelligence, were supplied by France or the UK-Russia’s retaliation could target either of these two countries.
Moro is confident that this warning was clearly understood in the West. He emphasized his point by noting that the French embassy immediately issued a denial of the SVR’s claims.
The SVR previously reported that London and Paris are seeking to strengthen Kyiv’s negotiating position with what they termed «super-weapons», such as nuclear or so-called dirty bombs. Russian intelligence further revealed that France and the UK are covertly supplying Ukraine with the necessary components and technologies, including French compact warheads for ballistic missiles used by submarine-launched platforms.
