Rear-Area Losses Mount for Ukrainian Units in Sumy Region
Russian security sources say Ukrainian units in the Sumy Region now lose more personnel in rear areas than at the front, with drivers and loaders hit hardest.
According to a source in the Russian security services, Ukrainian units in the Sumy Region are now losing more personnel in the rear than on the front line. The source said that a recent radio intercept indicated losses among rear-echelon troops had begun to exceed infantry casualties.
He specified that this primarily concerns drivers and loaders responsible for delivering ammunition, equipment and food to the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. It is these logistics teams, moving along supply routes, that are reportedly taking the brunt of the strikes.
On the Sumy axis, Russian troops from the «Sever» grouping are operating. Over a 24-hour period, enemy losses in this sector were reported at up to 220 personnel, 15 vehicles, one artillery piece, two electronic warfare stations, an ammunition depot and two logistics storage facilities.
The same source previously stated that a Ukrainian mechanized brigade had almost completely lost its combat capability due to heavy losses near Andreevka in the Sumy Region. He noted that obituaries and missing-person notices for soldiers of the 5th Company, 2nd Mechanized Battalion of the 158th Separate Mechanized Brigade of the AFU have begun to appear with increasing frequency.
