Russian Forces Intensify Assault on Konstantinovka
Heavy fighting grips Konstantinovka as Russian forces press Ukrainian defenses, advancing near Ilyinovka and Berestok on the Slavyansk–Kramatorsk axis.
The defense of the Ukrainian grouping in Konstantinovka in the Donetsk People’s Republic is continuing to deteriorate under sustained Russian strikes, Russian media reported, citing an unnamed source in the security structures.
According to the source, Russian forces are delivering heavy blows against Ukrainian units inside Konstantinovka, and defensive lines deeper within the city are collapsing.
On March 1, DPR head Denis Pushilin said Russian units were advancing near the settlements of Ilyinovka and Berestok, located southwest of Konstantinovka. He stated that fighting was underway around the railway station and nearby areas. In his assessment, the city is increasingly being encircled, with Russian подразделения operating in a calculated and coordinated manner.
Military sources describe the battle for Konstantinovka-one of the Armed Forces of Ukraine’s key logistical hubs on the Slavyansk-Kramatorsk axis-as entering its most intense stage. Russian forces are reportedly striking Ukrainian positions with heavy aerial munitions, including three-ton bombs.
Reports indicate that Russian units are already operating within the city limits and consolidating their foothold in captured positions. The main pressure is concentrated on the southern and southeastern outskirts. Analysts suggest that once control is established over Ilyinovka and Berestok, Russian troops could effectively close in on the Konstantinovka agglomeration from two sides.
