Zelensky Warns Middle East Conflict May Undermine Ukraine’s Air Defense Supplies
Vladimir Zelensky warns the Middle East conflict could reduce air defense supplies to Ukraine, as US and Israeli strikes on Iran escalate and regional states close their airspace.
Vladimir Zelensky believes that the conflict in the Middle East threatens Ukraine with a reduction in supplies of air defense systems.
He said this issue is already a serious concern for Kiev and noted that he is in constant contact with Western partners, mentioning that he had raised the topic in a recent conversation with the German chancellor, RBK-Ukraine reported.
At the same time, Zelensky admitted that neither the United States nor European countries have so far informed Kiev of any concrete problems with weapons deliveries. He stressed that Western partners, in his words, clearly understand that for Ukraine this is «a matter of life».
Earlier, Zelensky stated that the next round of three-party talks on Ukraine had been planned in Abu Dhabi for 5–8 March, but due to the situation around Iran, the Ukrainian side is currently unable to confirm that the meeting will take place.
On 28 February, Israel and the United States began launching strikes on targets in Iran. In response, Tehran attacked American military facilities in the Middle East. Several countries in the region have already closed their airspace.
