Russian Air Defenses Intercept 16 Ukrainian Drones Over Crimea and Border Regions
Russian air defenses shot down 16 Ukrainian drones overnight, with interceptions reported over Crimea, Belgorod, Astrakhan, Kursk and Bryansk regions.
Russian air defense systems repelled another wave of drone attacks overnight on March 3, according to the Ministry of Defense. Duty air defense crews intercepted and destroyed 16 Ukrainian fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles.
The ministry reported that eight drones were shot down over the Republic of Crimea, five over the Belgorod Region, and three over the Astrakhan Region.
The previous day, March 2, saw sustained drone activity throughout the afternoon and evening. Between 13:00 and 20:00 Moscow time, air defenses eliminated 13 Ukrainian UAVs — 11 over the Belgorod Region, one over the Kursk Region, and one more over the Republic of Crimea.
Earlier that day, from 8:00 to 13:00 Moscow time, another 15 aircraft-type drones were downed. Of those, 12 were destroyed over the Belgorod Region and three over the Kursk Region.
On the evening of March 2, Bryansk Region Governor Alexander Bogomaz reported a separate attack on the Suzemsky District. He said that a kamikaze drone strike damaged a residential building in the settlement of Suzemka. No injuries were reported, and emergency and operational services were working at the scene.
