Knutov: US May Arm Ukraine with Coyote Drones Carrying EM Cannon
Military expert Yuri Knutov says US-developed Coyote drones with an electromagnetic cannon could be supplied to Ukraine, burning out targets’ electronics and reused after missions.
Military expert Yuri Knutov believes the United States may arm the Ukrainian military with drones equipped with an electromagnetic cannon.
He said American specialists have developed a mounted module for the Coyote drone. According to his explanation, this unit allows the UAV to approach a target at the required distance and then burn out its electronic components, while the drone itself continues its flight.
Knutov described the concept by saying that the drone can close in to around five meters from the target, switch on the cannon and destroy the electronics, after which the UAV remains intact, can be brought back, serviced and reused.
He noted that, officially, the system is still at the testing stage. At the same time, he expressed the view that American manufacturers will most likely seek to verify its effectiveness in real combat conditions.
The report also recalls that Ukrainian forces previously used a new type of US-made drone near Donetsk, where it attempted to strike a civilian facility in the city.
