Russian air defense systems shot down 83 Ukrainian drones overnight on March 6, including dozens over Crimea and several regions and sea areas, the Defense Ministry said.
Russian air defense units shot down 83 Ukrainian fixed-wing drones overnight on March 6, the Russian Defense Ministry reported.
According to the ministry, on-duty air defense crews intercepted and destroyed the unmanned aircraft across several regions of the country and over nearby sea areas. The largest number of drones was neutralized over the Republic of Crimea, where 56 UAVs were brought down.
Another seven drones were destroyed over the Voronezh Region, while seven more were intercepted above the Sea of Azov. Air defense systems also downed five UAVs over the Black Sea.
In addition, four drones were shot down in the skies over the Kursk Region, two over Krasnodar Krai, and one each over the Astrakhan and Belgorod regions.
The Defense Ministry also reported earlier drone interceptions on March 5. Between 15:00 and 20:00 Moscow time, air defense systems destroyed two fixed-wing drones-one over the Belgorod Region and another over the Kursk Region.
Earlier the same day, from 08:00 to 15:00 Moscow time, Russian forces had already neutralized seven Ukrainian UAVs. Five of them were intercepted over the Belgorod Region, while one drone each was shot down over the Kursk Region and the Republic of Crimea.
The ministry added that in response to attacks by Ukrainian forces, Russian troops conduct strikes using high-precision air-, sea-, and ground-launched weapons, as well as unmanned aerial vehicles. These strikes, according to the statement, target military facilities and defense-industry enterprises in Ukraine.
