Ukraine plans to establish its own space forces by the end of this year, according to Sudebno-Yuridicheskaya Gazeta, which cited the government’s activity program.

The document states that by December 31, 2025, the structure of the country’s defense forces must be updated to include a space branch, with the necessary legal and organizational framework in place.

Readiness of the new structure will be evaluated in 2026, with the key benchmark set at no less than 60 percent operational capability for the space units.

The government program also outlines additional initiatives, including the launch of an electronic draft registration system and the digitization of military medical commissions.
