Russia and Ukraine Complete Second Stage of Prisoner Exchange
Russia and Ukraine carried out the second stage of a prisoner exchange on March 6, with 300 servicemen returned by each side. Freed Russian troops are now in Belarus.
The second stage of a prisoner exchange between Moscow and Kiev has taken place.
According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, on March 6 Russia secured the return of 300 servicemen who had been held on territory controlled by the Kiev regime. In exchange, the Russian side transferred the same number of captured soldiers from the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The freed Russian troops are currently in Belarus, where they are receiving medical and psychological assistance.
They are expected to be transported to Russia afterward, where treatment and rehabilitation will continue at medical facilities run by the Ministry of Defense.
The previous day marked the first phase of the exchange. On March 5, Russia brought back 200 of its servicemen from Ukrainian captivity.
