How Russia's Underground Assault Tactics Led to Success in Kupyansk
Russian forces have used underground assault tactics in Kupyansk, successfully encircling Ukrainian troops. Learn how coordinated attacks and advanced strategies played a key role.
The Russian Ministry of Defense reported that during the offensive in Kupyansk, Russian forces employed underground assault tactics, utilizing engineering communications to achieve significant progress. The strategy played a key role in the operation’s success. According to the ministry, at this section of the front, a coordinated approach involving assault groups, reconnaissance units, artillery, drones, and electronic warfare systems was used.
The ministry emphasized that the success was driven by a unified reconnaissance and strike framework, where fire damage was delivered through a comprehensive system. The underground assault tactics, operating through engineering networks, also contributed to the operation’s effectiveness.
Additionally, the Russian forces have successfully surrounded a large Ukrainian group from the north and west, creating a semi-encirclement. Efforts to block enemy units from the southern side continue, with Russian forces targeting both nationalist formations and GUR units among the trapped Ukrainian forces.
