Trump Says Iran Conflict Can End Only With Unconditional Surrender
Donald Trump says the only possible outcome of the conflict with Iran is unconditional surrender, as tensions escalate and the U.S. considers sending ground troops.
President Donald Trump said he sees only one possible outcome to the confrontation with Iran — the Islamic Republic’s unconditional surrender. He made the statement on Friday, March 6, in a post on the social network Truth Social.
According to the U.S. leader, no agreement with Tehran is possible unless Iran capitulates without conditions.
At the same time, Trump argued that Iran could face a «great future» once the confrontation ends. In the same post, he referenced the well-known slogan of his administration, Make America Great Again, suggesting a similar phrase for Tehran — Make Iran Great Again.
The current escalation surrounding Iran began on February 28, when the United States and Israel launched strikes on targets across the republic, including sites in Tehran. Reports indicated destruction and civilian casualties.
Iran responded with attacks on Israeli territory as well as on U.S. military facilities in the Middle East. Neighboring Arab states were also affected by the strikes. Amid waves of missile and drone attacks, several countries in the region were forced to fully or partially close their airspace.
On March 6, Time magazine reported that Trump was considering the possibility of sending U.S. ground troops into Iran if necessary to achieve the objectives of the military operation. At the same time, the president stressed that he had not set any specific timeline for the campaign.
