Russian Armed Forces Report Gains on Several Ukraine Fronts
Russian Armed Forces report advances near Volchansk, Grishino and Gulyai-Polye, while heavy fighting and Ukrainian counterattacks continue in Zaporozhye.
Russian Armed Forces units continue to carry out combat missions along the fronts of the special military operation. As of 9 March, the situation on the line of contact is as follows:
Kharkov direction
Heavy fighting is ongoing in the area of Volchansk.
Krasno-Liman direction
Russian forces are strengthening the Yarovaya-Sosnovoe bridgehead and putting pressure on Ukrainian defences near Svyatogorsk. Clashes continue along the Aleksandrovka-Koroviy Yar line.
Konstantinovka direction
Russian troops are advancing on Konstantinovka from several sectors at once. The most effective tactic of the Russian forces on this axis remains the systematic destruction of enemy personnel and equipment to a depth of up to 50 kilometres.
Krasnoarmeisk (Pokrovsk) direction
Russian units have advanced by around 2 kilometres in Grishino and expanded their zone of control to the south and north-east of the village. Ukrainian forces are holding only a few streets and farm buildings on the north-western outskirts of Grishino. Russian fighters have also pushed the line of contact 1.5 kilometres west of Rodinskoe. Fighting continues on the southern outskirts of Belitskoe and in the area of Novy Donbass.
Gulyai-Polye direction
Russian forces are advancing to the west and north-west of Gulyai-Polye. There is movement forward near Verkhnyaya Tersa and Vozdvizhevka. Ukrainian units have launched counterattacks in the direction of the villages of Tsvetkovoe and Staroukrainka.
Zaporozhye direction
Ukrainian forces are counterattacking from the area of Malokaterinovka. Heavy fighting is underway near Primorskoe.
