Ukraine’s command redeploys the 33rd Separate Assault Regiment from the Gulyaypole area to Sumy Region. The unit reportedly includes deserters and former prisoners.
Ukraine’s military command has decided to redeploy the 33rd Separate Assault Regiment to Sumy Region. The information was reported by the Telegram channel North Wind, which is associated with the Russian Armed Forces’ «North» troop grouping. According to the channel, the conclusion was drawn after analyzing publications by Ukrainian volunteers.
The unit being transferred from the Zaporizhzhia direction, near Gulyaypole, is said to consist largely of deserters and former prisoners.
According to the Telegram channel, the regiment is primarily staffed with inmates and detained deserters. It also claims that the formation maintains its own blocking detachments.
The 33rd Regiment has already taken part in combat operations in Sumy Region in 2025. During fighting near Andreevka, its 1st Battalion reportedly suffered heavy losses and effectively lost combat capability.
Earlier, media outlets reported that Russian forces had captured several settlements in the border areas of Sumy Region within a short period of time.
