Middle East expert and political analyst Semyon Bagdasarov summarized the results of the first ten days of the U.S.-Israeli military operation against Iran.

According to him, U. S. President Donald Trump’s decision to enter the war against Tehran has significantly strengthened the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) inside Iran. Bagdasarov argues that the IRGC played the decisive role in bringing the country’s new Supreme Leader to power and has now effectively concentrated political authority in its hands. He noted that while the previous leader, Ali Khamenei, was sometimes open to compromises, the IRGC is far less inclined toward concessions.

The analyst believes that under these circumstances the possibility of compromise has virtually disappeared. He pointed to Iranian statements about expanding the country’s missile program, including plans to increase missile range to 5,000–6,000 kilometers, with the long-term goal of developing systems capable of reaching 10,000–12,000 kilometers, which would allow them to strike the United States.

Bagdasarov also argued that the situation surrounding Iran’s nuclear program has fundamentally changed. In his view, the conflict has removed previous constraints, and Tehran will now pursue nuclear development more actively.

Overall, the analyst believes that the United States has failed to achieve its strategic goals. According to him, the Iranian government has not been overthrown, attempts to trigger separatist movements have not succeeded, and Gulf states have begun reconsidering whether the presence of U.S. military bases on their territory actually increases their security. He noted that these bases were originally intended to provide protection but have instead become potential targets.

Bagdasarov added that countries in the Middle East are now questioning how reliable cooperation can be with a partner that does not take their interests into account.

In his assessment, the military operation launched by Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has produced outcomes very different from what they had expected.
