Trump Says US-Made Tomahawk Missiles Could Be Used by Other Countries
Donald Trump says US-made Tomahawk missiles could be used by other countries amid reports about a strike on a girls’ school in Minab. Investigation into the incident continues.
During a press conference at the White House, President of the United States Donald Trump acknowledged that American-made Tomahawk cruise missiles could potentially end up in the hands of other countries and be used outside U.S. territory. The statement was reported by The War Zone (TWZ).
Reporters asked the president whether he considered it possible that the strike on a girls’ school in the Iranian city of Minab might have been carried out with a Tomahawk missile produced in the United States. Trump said that such a scenario could not be completely ruled out. At the same time, he noted that the missile might also have been launched by Iranian forces themselves.
According to the president, the Tomahawk is among the most powerful types of weaponry and is not only used by the United States but also sold to other countries.
Trump added that the circumstances surrounding the incident are still being investigated. He emphasized that Tomahawk missiles are not exclusive to the U.S. arsenal, as Washington supplies them to its allies.
The American leader also said he was prepared to accept the outcome of the investigation regardless of its conclusions, noting that many other states possess Tomahawk missiles because they purchase them from the United States.
At the same time, The War Zone pointed out that there is currently no evidence that Iran has such missiles in its arsenal.
Earlier, media reports claimed that fragments of the missile used in the strike on the school in Minab bore markings associated with American munitions.
