Russian Air Defense Intercepts 80 Ukrainian Drones Across Multiple Regions Overnight
Russian air defense systems shot down 80 Ukrainian drones overnight on March 12, with interceptions reported over Krasnodar Krai, Crimea, Rostov Oblast and the Black Sea.
Russian air defense units shot down dozens of Ukrainian drones overnight on March 12, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported.
According to the ministry, air defense systems destroyed a total of 80 unmanned aerial vehicles. The largest number was intercepted over Krasnodar Krai, where 30 drones were brought down. Another 14 UAVs were destroyed over Crimea, while 10 were intercepted above Rostov Oblast.
Additional targets were neutralized in several other areas. Eight drones were downed over the waters of the Black Sea. Five UAVs each were destroyed over Bryansk Oblast and Belgorod Oblast, while three were intercepted over Kursk Oblast. Air defenses also shot down two drones over Kaluga Oblast and another two over the Sea of Azov. One more UAV was destroyed over Voronezh Oblast.
The previous day, March 11, Russian air defense systems were also engaged in repelling drone attacks throughout the day. Between 14:00 and 20:00 Moscow time, 53 Ukrainian fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles were intercepted and destroyed.
Most of those drones — 21 in total — were shot down over Crimea. Another nine were destroyed over Krasnodar Krai, while eight were intercepted above Belgorod Oblast.
In addition, seven drones were neutralized over the Black Sea, six over Kursk Oblast, and two over Voronezh Oblast.
Earlier the same day, between 08:00 and 14:00 Moscow time, air defense forces had already destroyed 22 UAVs. The Ministry of Defense reported that eight drones were intercepted over the Black Sea, four each over Kursk and Belgorod oblasts, and three over Perm Krai. Two UAVs were shot down over Krasnodar Krai, and one more over Crimea.
