Rostec Develops New Long-Range Loitering Munition Drone
Rostec announced a new long-range loitering munition drone capable of striking targets hundreds of kilometers away while bypassing air defenses and resisting electronic warfare.
Russian state corporation Rostec has announced the development of a new loitering munition designed to strike enemy targets at long distances. Details about the project were released in an official press statement from the company.
According to Rostec, the drone is intended to hit military facilities located deep behind enemy lines.
The unmanned system is equipped with an internal combustion engine and is capable of operating at ranges of several hundred kilometers. The drone is also described as fast and highly maneuverable, allowing it to follow varied flight paths. This capability makes it possible to bypass air defense zones and carry out precise strikes on designated targets.
Boris Podolny, managing director for the development of unmanned aerial systems at Rostec, said the corporation’s portfolio already includes more than ten serially produced drone models designed for different missions.
He noted that several UAVs developed by Rostec enterprises — both reconnaissance and strike platforms — are currently being used in the zone of the special military operation. The new loitering munition, which features a delta-wing configuration, is presently undergoing testing.
Rostec also stated that the drone is resistant to electronic warfare systems and equipped with a reliable communication channel, allowing operators to control it over long distances.
