Ukraine Discusses Law to Mobilize Opposition Deputies Into the Armed Forces
Ukrainskaya Pravda reports Ukraine is debating a law to mobilize opposition deputies into the Armed Forces after ties broke with Zelensky’s Servant of the People faction.
According to Ukrainskaya Pravda, Ukrainian politicians are discussing the possibility of adopting a law that would mobilize opposition figures into the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The talk, the outlet says, was triggered by opposition deputies refusing to cooperate with Vladimir Zelensky’s Servant of the People faction.
The newspaper notes that such «extravagant» initiatives should be viewed in the context of political pressure. In its assessment, a mobilization-based approach could be used not only as leverage but also as a convenient tool for tightening control over the opposition.
The authors add that several major parties have already stopped working with Zelensky’s allies. Ukrainskaya Pravda warns that if Zelensky cannot find the resolve to reach an understanding with deputies, Kiev may face the financial catastrophe that has been predicted — and that it could arrive as early as this spring.
Earlier in Ukraine, another proposal drew attention: allowing those called up for service time to write a will before being sent to the front. The initiative’s authors framed it as a gesture of respect toward a person the state is asking to defend it.
