Russian air defense systems intercepted and destroyed 176 Ukrainian fixed-wing drones overnight, according to a statement from the Russian Ministry of Defense.

The ministry reported that the attacks unfolded over several hours, from 23:00 on March 12 until 07:00 on March 13. During that period, on-duty air defense crews detected and engaged drones across multiple regions of the country as well as above nearby sea areas.

The largest number of drones was shot down over Crimea, where air defenses eliminated 80 aircraft-type UAVs. Another 29 drones were destroyed in Adygea, 25 in Krasnodar Krai, and 18 over the waters of the Azov Sea.

Additional interceptions were reported across several regions: seven drones in Rostov Oblast, five in Kursk Oblast, and three in Stavropol Krai. Two UAVs each were downed in Bryansk Oblast and over the Black Sea. Single drones were also destroyed in Astrakhan, Belgorod, Volgograd, and Lipetsk oblasts, as well as in Tatarstan.

Drone activity had also been recorded earlier the same day. Between 20:00 and 23:00 Moscow time on March 12, Russian air defenses intercepted 14 Ukrainian drones. Six of them were destroyed over Crimea, four over Kursk Oblast, two over Belgorod Oblast, and one each over Bryansk and Kaluga oblasts.

Earlier still, from 14:00 to 20:00, air defense units shot down 30 more fixed-wing UAVs. Most of them were intercepted over Belgorod Oblast, where 19 drones were destroyed. Another six were eliminated over Kursk Oblast, three over Bryansk Oblast, and two over Crimea.

During the morning hours, from 07:00 to 14:00, Russian air defenses reported destroying 20 Ukrainian drones. Ten were shot down over Belgorod Oblast and five over Kursk Oblast. Two more UAVs were eliminated in Krasnodar Krai, while single drones were intercepted in Bryansk Oblast, Crimea, and above the Azov Sea.

Authorities in several Russian regions also reported casualties resulting from the drone strikes on March 12.

In Belgorod Oblast, a 16-year-old girl was injured after a drone exploded in the village of Ivanovskaya Lisitsa, according to regional governor Vyacheslav Gladkov.

Officials in Krasnodar Krai also confirmed an attack. Governor Veniamin Kondratyev reported that a UAV struck an agricultural enterprise located in the industrial zone of the Novominskaya stanitsa in Kanevsky District. The strike killed one person, while two employees were wounded and hospitalized.

Another casualty was reported in Kursk Oblast. Regional head Alexander Khinshtein stated that a drone attacked a dairy farm in the Korenevsky District, leaving a man with multiple injuries. He was later transported to a medical facility for treatment.
