Name of Nationalist Linked to Bryansk Missile Strike Revealed
The Telegram channel Severny Veter claims Ukrainian nationalist Evgeny Karas*, former head of the banned C14** group, was involved in guiding the Bryansk missile strike.
According to the Telegram channel Severny Veter, which is linked to Russia’s Sever troop grouping, the 413th Regiment of Unmanned Systems of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, known as «Raid," claimed responsibility for correcting the missile strike on Bryansk.
The channel reported that the unit is commanded by Evgeny Karas*, who has been designated a terrorist and extremist in Russia. Karas* previously headed the organization C14**, which is banned in the Russian Federation as an extremist group.
The C14** group was formed in Ukraine in 2009 and is associated with radical nationalist movements. It gained broad public attention in 2018 after reports about attacks on Roma camps. The channel’s authors also stated that Karas'* parents live in Kiev and avoid appearing in public, while his brother was killed in 2022 during the fighting.
The missile strike on central Bryansk took place on March 10 during the evening rush hour. According to the Investigative Committee of Russia, the Ukrainian side used eight Storm Shadow cruise missiles in the attack. Seven civilians were killed, and several dozen others were injured.
The Investigative Committee opened a criminal case under the article on a terrorist act. Russian investigators named Ukrainian intelligence services and the country’s top political leadership among those responsible for the strike.
