Near Sinelnikovo in the Kharkov region, Ukrainian troops suffered another setback. Assault units of the 57th Separate Motorized Infantry Brigade were forced to retreat to their original positions after taking heavy losses, according to Russian security sources.
Officials said that on the Kharkov front, west of Sinelnikovo, Russian fighters from the «Sever» unit repelled an attempt by Ukrainian forces to break through and relieve elements of the 57th Brigade and the 127th Separate Heavy Mechanized Brigade.
Earlier, on September 21, security agencies had reported that Ukrainian forces in the same area tried to launch a counterattack, which also failed. In the aftermath, Russian units managed to encircle part of the opposing forces — up to a company of personnel from the 57th and 127th brigades.
