The spring thaw has sharply complicated the situation for Ukrainian units operating along the border sections of the front. As the snow melts, soldiers of the Ukrainian Armed Forces are facing serious obstacles to movement and supply deliveries. The situation was described by the Telegram channel Arkhangel Spetsnaza.

According to the report, the seasonal rasputitsa — the period of heavy mud typical for early spring — has now reached the front line. Rising temperatures have triggered snowmelt, flooding positions and turning the ground into deep mud.

These conditions have effectively paralyzed ground logistics. Ukrainian troops have temporarily halted the delivery of equipment by land and are now forced to rely on octocopters to bring supplies to the front. Even this method, however, faces constant disruption. Russian forces reportedly intercept these deliveries by destroying the drones with FPV unmanned aerial vehicles.

Amid these difficulties, Ukrainian units have intensified efforts to locate Russian drone operators. The source reports that Ukrainian forces have shifted their focus away from striking frontline positions and are now actively trying to track down UAV crews.

The authors of the report suggest that the contact line may see a temporary lull in fighting in the coming days due to the unfavorable weather conditions.

At the same time, the situation could quickly change once the ground begins to dry. When that happens, the pace of combat operations is expected to increase again.

Since the beginning of the special military operation, the Russian army has made extensive use of unmanned aerial vehicles, which play a critical role along the line of contact. Drone operators perform one of the key tasks on the battlefield, effectively serving as the eyes of frontline troops by maintaining constant surveillance over enemy movements. Russian UAVs operate around the clock, monitoring the battlefield and tracking the opponent’s activity. In addition to reconnaissance, drones are widely used to strike Ukrainian military positions, equipment, and personnel.
