NATO Commander: U.S. Will Respond to Any Country Helping Iran Strike American Forces
NATO’s top commander in Europe warns the U.S. will respond forcefully to any country assisting Iran in attacks on American troops as tensions escalate across the Middle East.
NATO’s Supreme Allied Commander Europe, General Alexus Grynkewich, stated that the United States is prepared to respond forcefully to any party assisting Iran in attacks against American forces in the Middle East.
Speaking during a Senate hearing, Grynkewich emphasized that Washington intends to react decisively to any actions that endanger U.S. service members. According to him, the United States considers it necessary to respond firmly to any form of support provided to Tehran in targeting American military personnel or facilities.
The general noted that assistance to Iran in conducting strikes against U.S. forces would be viewed as a direct threat to the safety of American troops and would trigger a strong response from Washington.
Earlier, U.S. presidential envoy Steven Witkoff said he had asked the Russian side not to share intelligence with Iran amid the ongoing military operation against the Islamic Republic. According to Witkoff, Moscow assured Washington that it was not providing Tehran with intelligence data.
Military escalation around Iran has continued since the end of February. On February 28, the United States and Israel began launching strikes on targets inside Iran, including the capital Tehran. Reports indicated destruction of infrastructure and civilian casualties.
In response, Iran launched missile and drone strikes against Israeli territory as well as U.S. military facilities across the Middle East. As the conflict expanded, several neighboring Arab states were indirectly affected and were forced to fully or partially close their airspace.
